DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM

Call for Participation: ICCV 2021 Doctoral Consortium

Overview

The Doctoral Consortium provides a unique opportunity for students who are close to completing or have recently completed their doctorate degree (PhD or equivalent) to seek guidance and/or advice from experienced researchers in computer vision. This event will be held virtually this year.

A senior member of the computer vision community will be assigned as a mentor to each accepted student. Mentors are selected based upon a list of mentor candidates provided by the student. At the one-on-one Doctoral Consortium meeting with their assigned mentor, each student will provide a brief overview of their research to kick off a discussion of their future research and career plans.

Eligibility

Students must be conducting research in computer vision and be within 6 months (before or after) of graduating with their doctoral degree. Applicants must not have attended a previous doctoral consortium (e.g., at CVPR).

Submission Guidelines

Students meeting the eligibility requirements should submit an application that includes:

1. Up-to-date CV
2. One-page research statement summarizing the applicant's research and progress to date.
3. The names, affiliations, and email addresses for seven potential mentors, ranked from most to least preferred. Do not list your own advisor as a mentor. Identify researchers from academia or industry whose work is relevant to yours or whose feedback you think would be particularly useful to you. (The lists of area chairs at ICCV or CVPR are good sources for potential mentors.)

Submit applications here. Please ensure that all the requested information is provided; incomplete applications will be rejected.

Review Process

If all applications cannot be supported, selection will be based on the provided material, graduation date (i.e., opportunity to attend future doctoral consortiums), and diversity considerations.

Awards

We encourage students of all nationalities and from all countries to apply. Selected participants will receive reimbursement for their ICCV 2021 virtual registration after the conference. Detailed instructions will be sent via email directly to participants who receive the awards.
